Qilan is our newest web application development environment for Mac OS X.

Osmosis is a Mac OS 7/8/9 WebStar compatible "cgi" (common gateway interface) which allows a web page to interact with a Helix database. We have an example of access to the Helix® Search database. This working database of bugs, tips, and Frequently Asked Questions shows Osmosis in action. This database may be periodically offline but should be useful to all Helix users.

Osmosis Gateway v1.0.7 is the current version. If you would like to experiment with accessing a Helix database using a telnet client, check out our Resources page.

After you give a look, you may wish to try a demo of Osmosis. Check out Osmosis working with the relational database power of Helix.

April 28, 2002 Osmosis Gateway v1.0.7 released.

July 16, 2000 - Osmosis Version 3.2.1 released. We demonstrated version 1.1 of Qilan at MacWorld NY 2000 in the FrontBase booth.

May 20, 1999 - Osmosis Gateway v1.0.5 released. This is primarily a bug fix release with updated documentation.

March 31, 1999 - Osmosis Gateway v1.0.1 is released. Please check out our Press Release for details.

March 9, 1998 - We have added links to our VAR's and Osmosis Gateway Application developers on our About page.

March 1999 - We are preparing to release a new product "Osmosis Gateway" or OG. The performance is looking good. OG is a Telnet "Listening" application which can be placed on an IP networked Macintosh. The gateway provides a two way connection to a Helix database from any Telnet capable application over IP that uses the correct protocol. The protocol is provided as an open standard. We are hoping that other developers will create front end client applications to provide useful user interfaces. Please contact us for single user and VAR pricing.

November 18, 1998 Osmosis 3.2 has been released. You can get it from our Products and Services page.

October 7, 1998 - Steve Caine has put together a Osmosis Guide package. The package contains a sample Helix collection with associated scripts and a demo version of osmosis so that the scripts can be opened and examined. A sample web page kicks off a search for data, then selection of a specific record to work with, then finally editing the record. This is a common scenario. Also demonstrated is how to produce a quick (non-queried) list. The enclosed Word document goes through the collection, html, and scripts in detail. The package is 1 MB stuffed and binhexed.

August 13, 1998 - Our Helix tips and tricks database is back in action after our upgrade to Webstar 3.0.1

July 15, 1998 - Our Helix tips and tricks database is now running using Osmosis version 3.0.2. on our new G3 data server. We are pleased with the performance! The server is available to host customer databases. Give a call or drop an e mail if you are interested.

May 24, 1998 - When we presented our class in January, we had a couple of overview graphics that provided a big picture of how Osmosis works. Here is also some good information about getting started with Osmosis.
